A Tropical Oasis in Brisbane City

The Brief
Our client – a young family – wanted a functional entertainment area that would accommodate a pool and yard within a small footprint, while retaining the existing bluestone wall and fences to maximise the value of their existing structures.

Our Design Response
Determined to make the most of every square metre, we designed and installed a garden teeming with tropical delight. The backyard is framed by lush greenery with hints of warm, exotic colour. The sparkling blue pool captures the dramatic reflections of nature – from curved stone to bold foliage. A discreet water feature evokes the cascading sounds of a rainforest. Natural trails, winding bluestone steppers and stunning ground cover create an intriguing jungle floor and a clear journey between the pool and house.

The existing mango tree comes into its own with a bespoke wrap-around hardwood bench seat for rest, relaxation, and a clear view of the pool area for supervising young ones. This compact yet generous design leaves plenty of green space for play, with a lawn that stretches from the new adjoining alfresco deck.

To ensure a seamless transition between the front and back of the property, we also reimagined the entry with a tropical theme. New steppers and bold plantings entice visitors along the garden path to the front door, while the repetition of timber and foliage create a sense of what is yet to come.

This modern garden is a slice of tropical Queensland – the ideal setting for a year-round family staycation (dogs included).
