The Brief
The client – a footy-loving family – charged us with creating a functional, private and low-maintenance zone for entertainment, relaxation and play. While they were eager to achieve a better flow between their disconnected indoor and outdoor spaces, at the top of their list was making their tired, underused and disjointed pool area great again.
Our Design Response
Inspired by the home’s Hampton’s style, we opted for a classic white-and-grey colour scheme and an interplay of curves and straight lines – from silver travertine paving and silver-grey olive tree foliage to bold, circular pots and white concrete. It’s the playful and precise juxtaposition of shapes in particular – bending garden beds, contoured seating, floating concrete stairs – that transforms the traditional kidney-bean shaped pool into an alluring contemporary garden.
For us, this design is not just about making the old new; it’s about the carefully considered layers of detail that make the journey feel that extra bit special. Pragmatic horseshoe benches, warm wood finishes and the soft accents of timeless plantings are just some features to discover along the way.
For our clients, the result is a light-filled, breezy hub for family and friends to gather, enjoy and (importantly!) watch the footy.
